Working with financial reports, presentations, filings, datapacks, and more.

Finbar maintains a highly-curated database of financial documents for thousands of companies across the globe. These are sourced from many locations, primarily individual company websites but also public exchanges and others.

Every document is preprocessed to extract all fundamental datapoints. This forms the basis of many of our products, like our financial models, data streams, and client-directed commands like Excel model updates and AI-driven benchmarking requests.

Every fundamental datapoint on the Finbar platform is always traceable back to its original document, which can be viewed on the web platform.

Document types

Finbar uses a unified classification system so documents are easier to compare across companies and markets. These include;

  • Full financial report: a complete financial report, such as an annual report, 10-K, 10-Q, or registration document.
  • Press release: a scheduled release associated with an earnings event.
  • Presentation: a scheduled presentation associated with an earnings event.
  • Transcript: a transcript associated with an earnings event.
  • Partial financial report: a document containing financial information when distinct from the full report and press releases.
  • ESG report: ESG disclosure when distinct from the full report and press releases.
  • Additional data: supplementary disclosure or data files.

Viewing documents

Open any document to view the original source. Finbar currently supports documents published as: PDFs, Excel files, and web filings.

The document header gives quick options like switching to another period or filing, or exporting the underlying file.

Document tools

Opening a document also opens the 'Document tools' tab. This is a set of tools designed to help you quickly extract the information you need from a document.

Clicking on any table in a document will enable the 'Inspect' sub-tab. This lets you copy and extract the data contained in that table in a cleaned format.

Document tools also expose more advanced cross-document data tools. These are explained in a separate section of these docs.
