Connect an AI assistant

Connect ChatGPT or Claude to Finbar with your account.

Use Finbar from your AI assistant to find companies, read source documents, and query published financial datasets. You need a Finbar Ultimate (Max) plan or individually approved API/MCP access.

Copy this server URL:

https://mcp.finbar.com/mcp

Sign in with your Finbar account when prompted. You do not need to create an API credential, copy a token, or enter a client secret.

ChatGPT

  1. Open ChatGPT on the web. In Settings → Security and login, enable Developer mode. Availability depends on your account and workspace policy; a workspace administrator may need to enable custom connections.
  2. Open ChatGPT Plugins, select the plus button, and name the connection Finbar. For the description, use Company research, source documents, and financial datasets from Finbar.
  3. Choose a public server connection and paste https://mcp.finbar.com/mcp. If authentication options are shown, choose OAuth and CIMD (Client ID Metadata Document). Leave optional client ID and client secret fields empty.
  4. Create the connection. On Finbar’s consent page, check the client identity and requested permissions. Leave Remember this approval checked to skip this page for the same connection in this browser for up to 30 days. Select Continue to Finbar sign-in if these match the connection you started, then complete sign-in and review the discovered tools.
  5. Start a new conversation and add Finbar from the tools menu.

Claude

In Claude's connector settings, add a custom connector named Finbar using the same server URL. Connect, review and approve Finbar’s consent page, then sign in with your Finbar account and enable Finbar in your conversation.

Try the connection

Ask your assistant:

Use Finbar to find Apple and list its recent annual reports.

Then try:

Use Finbar to show Apple's available financial dataset metrics and periods.

The assistant should call Finbar tools and return company or document results. For dataset details, see Datasets API and MCP.

Troubleshooting
